WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE.
You'll find details here about the range of interesting historic talks I have to offer - several based on my books - in addition to my extensive experience as an auctioneer, interviewer, chairperson and facilitator. Based in East Anglia, I am free for bookings daytimes, evenings or weeekends and can usually stand in at very short notice if your speaker cancels.
I have taught a wide variety of courses and workshops over the past 25 years to adult learners ranging from BTEC Business students and first year Film & TV undergraduates to classes of mainly retired people who attend WEA classes in rural Norfolk and Suffolk. The subjects I currently cover range from Antiques, Vintage and Collectables through Local and Family History to Cinema and Publishing. I create and teach all my own material and can therefore tailor new courses and workshops to order.
My first experience of setting up and running major events started while I was still at Southampton Univerity when I became the Administrative Director of the Sunday Times National Student Drama Festival in 1978 and 1979. In the second year I led a team of students responsible a 10 day event involving over 30 theatrical performances at an event attended by a raft of celebrities from film, TV and theatre alongside 400 students from all over the UK.
Between 1998 and 2004 I worked freelance for the University of Westminster's digial media training agency NMK developing and running peer-to-peer and life-long learning training initiatives aimed at bringing together traditional and digital media individuals, companies and organisations. I produced and chaired a wide range of seminars, debates, events and conferences all over the UK, including regular events at BAFTA's London Headquarters in Picadilly. In 2002 I was invited to Helsinki to be Chair of the Innonet International Conference organised by Helsinki University.
Between 2005 and 2012 I produced a series of author evenings at local theatres and other venues in the East Hertffordshire featuring major celebrity names. Over seven years the enormously successful MEET THE AUTHOR seasons were enjoyed by over 12,000 local people. Guests I had the pleasure of interviewing included Alan Titchmarsh (3 times), Sheila Hancock (twice), Alan Davies, Ian Botham, Martin Clunes, Frederick Forsyth, Julie Walters, Nigella Lawson and Rick Stein.
So if you want a really experienced conference or event producer please get in touch - apart from chairing or faciliting I can help with designing the format and schedule for your event, briefing speakers, acting as an interviewer, running audience question sessions, etc. For my half day and full day rates please drop me an e mail with your requirements: [email protected]
